Cape Town - Bantry Bay
Geography and History
Bantry Bay is an affluent suburb of Cape Town situated on the slopes of Lion's Head in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
It was originally called Botany Bay after a botanical garden that was planted here for the cultivation of medicinal herbs. The name was changed during World War I.
Bantry Bay marks the start of the famous Platinum Mile. This oceanfront suburb is situated 25 km from the Cape Town International Airport, 5km from the Cape Town station and is just minutes away from a number of South Africa’s most famous beaches including Clifton, Camps Bay, Llandudno and Hout Bay.
Stellenbosch and other Cape Wine Routes are a leisurely drive from Bantry Bay, whilst cultural attractions such as the Cape Town Botanical Gardens, Parliament Buildings, SA National Art Gallery, Planetarium and others can be found nearby.
